Development of rotor blade inspection, visualisation and repair

Cooperation is sought with the AirTub project. In this project, GE will work together with Terra Drone, Drone Quest, DHSS, Hijsspecialist, CIV Offshore, Delftechniek, Demcon and others to develop better methods for using drones for detailed inspections and visualisations of rotor blades on offshore wind turbines.

The innovative way in which drones and robots can be used for (minor) repairs to rotor blades will also be investigated. In the Mars4Earth project, Saxion University of Applied Sciences is developing new possibilities together with the business community.

These innovations will be jointly developed around the available wind turbines in the OWIC. The project includes the following activities:

  1. a) Realisation of a mock-up inspection and visualisation
    b) Development of a drone robot for (minor) repairs
  2. c) O&M activities through robotisation
